Independent magazine

DORK is an independent magazine about the controversies of graffiti art, featuring artists such as Futura and Mr Doodle. The masthead is inspired by graffiti tags, using quick free strokes to imitate this style. The word ‘dork’ itself is not supposed to make sense, just like many tags you see don’t either. The magazine has a range of articles which I typeset and experimented with different layout variations.

The physical DORK magazine uses laminated card stock for its covers for protection, with the spine and masthead foiled in the issue colour. The colours change with each issue to reflect the unpredictability and differentiation of graffiti art. Different kinds of papers tocks are used in the main pages with some articles being printed in red paper and others with different textures to reflect the many surfaces graffiti is found on.
